Chances are if you’re reading this, you’re having some trouble with your NAT type. You’re not alone. Many Xbox One users have NAT type issues because of how the Xbox One is designed to connect to the Internet. The good news is that there are a few things you can do to change your NAT type. In this article, we’ll show you how to change your NAT type on Xbox One.
NAT types explained
Now that we know the different types of NAT, let’s take a look at the benefits and challenges associated with each.
NAT Type 1 (Open):
This is the ideal NAT type as it allows you to connect to anyone you want, anytime, without any port forwarding required. You will have the best gaming experience possible with no lags or connection issues. The only potential downside is that your Xbox One will be more susceptible to malware and hacking attempts, but this can be mitigated by using a good antivirus program.
NAT Type 2 (Moderate):
With this type of NAT, you will be able to connect to most people, but there may be some connection issues with certain players. You may also need to forward ports in order to play certain games or use certain applications. This is not a major issue, and can easily be resolved by following our port forwarding guide. The main advantage of this NAT type is that it is more secure than an Open NAT, as it limits incoming connections.
NAT Type 3 (Strict):
This is the least ideal NAT type as it severely limits your ability to connect with other players. You will only be able to connect with people who have an Open or Moderate NAT type, and you will likely experience connection issues with many players. In order to use certain applications or play certain games, you will need to forward ports through your router’s settings. This can be a bit tricky for some people, so we recommend using our port forwarding guide if you need assistance.
How to change nat type xbox
There are three main NAT types on Xbox One: Open, Moderate, and Strict. Each has its own distinct advantages and disadvantages. Here’s a quick rundown of each:
This is the ideal NAT type, giving you the best possible connection to other players and the most potential for a successful online gaming experience. With an Open NAT type, you can connect to any player on any network, making it ideal for gaming and general internet use.
A Moderate NAT type gives you some of the benefits of an Open NAT type, but with a few more restrictions. With this NAT type, you can usually connect to other players on your own network or on an Open NAT network. However, you may have more difficulty connecting to players on Moderate or Strict NAT networks. In some cases, you may not be able to connect to players on Moderate or Strict NAT networks at all.
The most restrictive of the three NAT types, a Strict NAT type means that you can only connect to other players who have an Open NAT type. This can make online gaming and other internet activities difficult or even impossible. If you have a Strict NAT type, we recommend that you try to change it to Moderate or Open if possible.
How to change your NAT type
Changing your NAT type on Xbox One can improve your online gaming experience. NAT stands for Network Address Translation and it is a feature of your router. Your NAT type determines how well you can connect to other players online. If you have a NAT type of Open, you will have no problems connecting to other players. If you have a NAT type of Moderate or Strict, you may have some issues connecting to other players.

Why you should change your NAT type
Chances are if you’re gaming on Xbox One and you’re experiencing poor matchmaking or connection issues, it’s probably your NAT type. By changing your NAT type, you can improve your connection and get into games faster. In this article, we’ll show you how to change your NAT type on Xbox One.
Improved gaming performance
One of the main reasons you might want to change your NAT type is for better gaming performance. If you’re playing an online game and are experiencing lag or other performance issues, changing your NAT type could improve things.
Typically, if you have a NAT type of Open, Moderate, or Strict, you’ll be able to play most games without issue. If you have a NAT type of NAT Type Failed, however, you might experience some problems.
Generally speaking, the lower your NAT type is, the better. So if you’re having performance issues with an online game, changing your NAT type to Open or Moderate might help.
If you’re an online gamer, you know how frustrating it is to have lag. Lag is the bane of every online gamer’s existence. If you’re suffering from reduced speed and increased lag while playing your favorite online games, there’s a good chance your NAT type is the culprit.
NAT stands for network address translation. It’s a feature of your router that allows you to share one IP address (your public IP address) with multiple devices on your home network. When you have NAT enabled, your router will assign each device on your network a unique internal IP address.
This can cause problems if you’re trying to play an online game with friends. If your NAT type is too restrictive, it can cause lagging and other connection issues.
There are three NAT types: open, moderate, and strict. We recommend setting your NAT type to open to get the best possible connection speed and reduce lag.
If you want to change your NAT type, you’ll need to log into your router’s settings and make some changes. Every router is different, so we can’t give you specific instructions here. But if you go into your router’s settings and look for the option to change NAT type, you should be able to find it without too much trouble.
If you want to improve your matchmaking experiences and get into games faster, you’ll want to make sure you have an Open NAT type. NAT (Network Address Translation) is the behind-the-scenes technology that allows multiple devices on your home network to share one public IP address. It’s what allows you to have multiple devices connected to the internet at the same time.
Each device on your network has a NAT type which dictates how that device communicates with other devices on the internet. There are 3 NAT types: Open, Moderate, and Strict. Having an Open NAT type means that your gaming console will have no problem connecting to any other players online.
Players with a Moderate or Strict NAT type may have trouble connecting to other players, and may also experience reduced matchmaking quality and longer search times. If you’re having trouble connecting to games, or experience reduced matchmaking quality or longer search times, we recommend changing your NAT type to Open.
